All visitors and Trails Club members are encouraged to enjoy the great Northwest outdoors by selecting a hike, bike ride or other event from this calendar. Gentle Reminders provides explanation of hike difficulty and hike guideline. Detail description of common meeting is available at Meeting Places.

Week-1

Feb 1 (Sun) Government Camp Snowshoe – Class A

Meet at Tyee Lodge and depart at 10 AM. Snowshoe in the Government Camp area. Return to Tyee for hot drinks around the fire.
Carpool transportation from Portland not set up for this event as the leaders are staying at Tyee.

Feb 4 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

We begin our hike at 9:30 am and hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, somewhere in the Portland metropolitan area, often in Forest Park. We then have lunch at a nearby cafe.
This week's hike will begin at Friendly House at NW Thurman and 28th.

Feb 7- 8 (Sat-Sun) Tyee Open - Families

This is a promotional weekend for youth at Tyee. Kids are free accompanied by parents. We will set up sledding and inter-tubing, snow shoeing courses around the lodge, games, learning experiences in the lodge. Food is pot luck. Family’s need to be prepared to bring spaghetti fixings to meet the needs of their families and to add to the potluck. This is to keep costs down. We will have family (CO-ED) dorms this weekend. We have special need children who need to be with their family groups. Breakfast will be pancakes and if families want eggs and bacon then bring for potluck. Lunches are to be soups. Lodge will open Saturday Morning by 9:00 AM. It will close at noon on Sunday. If you are interested opening the lodge on Friday and have been approved in opening the lodge please notify Hosts.

Feb 10 (Tue) TCO Board Meeting - Special Location

This month's board meeting is being held at the Milne residence at 1864 SE Anspach St, Milwaukie, OR. This is for this month only to accommodate president George. Board meetings are usually held at the Mazama Mountaining Center. All members are welcome to attend board meetings.

Feb 11 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

We begin our hike at 9:30 am and hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, somewhere in the Portland metropolitan area, often in Forest Park. We then have lunch at a nearby cafe.
This week’s hike will begin at the Nature Center at Tryon Creek State Park, 11321 Southwest Terwilliger Boulevard, Portland, OR 97219. Please arrive ready to depart promptly at 9:30. We will be both on trails and pavement, so please be prepared for some mud given the recent rains. Hike will be approximately 5 miles. Lunch will be at a neighborhood restaurant.

Feb 13- 15 (Fri-Sun) Tyee Open - Host Only

Presidents weekend, Tyee open Friday 2/13, 12 noon to Monday 2/16, 3 PM . This is a family friendly weekend, bring your own food.

Feb 19 (Thur) Adventures and Travel, Forest Park Author, Marcy Houle

Author, Marcy Cottrell Houle, will speak about her favorite subject, Portland’s Forest Park. She is the author of "One City’s Wilderness: Portland’s Forest Park" and has authored three other books. Marcy Houle, a biologist, has studied the park for the past 35 years. She will illuminate the attributes that make Forest Park stand out among all the others. She will share the park’s amazing history, why it is a miracle it even exists, and how the Trails Club was an integral player in making the park happen. Marcy will also discuss Forest Park’s interesting trails and the best ways to access this urban wilderness. She will talk about its diverse native plants and animals.
Social Hour 6:30 PM, program starts 7 PM Please bring a snack to share or $1 donation to defray costs. Guests are welcome!

Feb 21-22 (Sat-Sun) - Nesika Open

Nesika will be hosting the Adventurous Young Mazamas and TCO members are welcome to join us. Open from 11 am Saturday to 2 pm Sunday. Bring your own food and we will pot luck.

Feb 22 (Sun) - Hike to Nesika Lodge Class - B

We will hike up the Multnomah creek to Nesika Lodge. The lodge is open for the weekend so we expect a warm place to eat lunch. Good idea to bring a daypack and a lunch to eat once we get here. Hike distance is 4 miles, elevation gain to the lodge is about 1,500 feet. About 6-7 hours round trip.
Depart: 9:30 AM from Multnomah Lodge, meet from in front of the gift shop.

Feb 25 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

We begin our hike at 9:30 am and hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, somewhere in the Portland metropolitan area, often in Forest Park. We then have lunch at a nearby cafe.
Todays hike will be approximately 4 1/2 miles.
Depart: promptly at 9:30 from Friendly House , NW 26th and NW Thurman, We will be carpooling about 8 miles up Germantown Road. If you would like the specific starting point, please contact the leader.

Feb 27- Mar 1 (Fri-Sun) Tyee Open

UnCancelled we got snow!
There will be people at Tyee but it is petty informal. Bring your own...

Tyee open from 7 PM Friday night February 27th to 4 PM Sunday March 1st. Hopefully there will be snow. bring your own dinner friday and lunches for other days. Breakfast Saturday, dinner Saturday and breakfast Sunday provided. Gluten free options available. Call with other dietary needs.
