All visitors and Trails Club members are encouraged to enjoy the great Northwest outdoors by selecting a hike, bike ride or other event from this calendar. Gentle Reminders provides explanation of hike difficulty and hike guideline. Detail description of common meeting is available at Meeting Places.

Week-1

June 1 (Thurs) Smell the roses bike ride - Class A+

This is a beautiful ride through Champoeg Park on bike trails and then onto country roads with a destination of the Heirloom Rose Garden where we will eat our snack or lunch. We’ll continue on to make a loop through St. Paul. We often see and hear the ospreys on this ride, it has some gently rolling hills and will be most enjoyable at a leisurely pace. This ride is just short of 25 miles. If the Butteville store is open, there will be ice-cream at the end of the ride.

June 4 (Sun) - Lacamas Lake Bike Ride - Class B

We will ride around Green Mtn and Lacamas Lake with nice views of the lake and areas of Vancouver and Camas. It is 25 miles with 846 feet of total ascent. We will stop for lunch at Lacamas Lake.

June 7 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

We begin our hike at 9:30 am and hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, somewhere in the Portland metropolitan area, often in Forest Park. We then have lunch at a nearby cafe.

June 7 (Wed) Evening Hike – Class A/B

We will hike from 6 PM until 8 PM-ish in Forest Park and the West Hills. Please carry a flashlight or headlamp and dress for changeable weather. Parking is limited; arrive early to find a spot, sign and pay the hike fee.
Cost: $1 for Trails Club and Mazama members; $2 non-members.
Meet: at Wallace Park between NW 25th and 26th on Raleigh. We leave at 6 PM sharp!
Class A: Approximately 4-5 miles with less than 500 foot elevation gain.

Jun 8 (Thur) Peninsula Park to Pier Park Bike - Class A

Please join me for an easy ride around North Portland. 15 miles round trip, flat, mostly on residential, low traffic streets. Bring a lunch for a picnic at Pier Park. Please make sure your tires are pumped. There should be beautiful roses at Peninsula Park!
Depart: 10 AM - Meet at the corner of N Ainsworth St. and N Borthwick Ave at the south end of Peninsula Park.

June 9-11 (Fri-Sun) Tyee Work Weekend

Hi Fellow Trails Clubbers! It is time once again for the annual Spring Spruce up at Tyee. Let’s all pitch in to get our mountain home ready for a busy summer. I will open the lodge on Friday at about noon.

June 10-11 (Sat-Sun) Nesika Folk Music Weekend

Come join us for a weekend of music at our great lodge and bring your instruments. Ted Kaye is leader of several monthly music circles in Portland. He has graciously volunteered to do a Folk song weekend at Nesika. It will include 2 "Sing a Longs", (all are welcome to join in singing), Singing around campfire, Musical Jam sessions, and day hikes in the Multnomah Basin. We invite those who play music to bring your instrument. We will be providing "Rise up singing" books for people to join in with song. This is a first of its kind at Nesika and has been requested in the past.
We will provide Saturday Lunch and Dinner and Breakfast on Sunday. Sunday Lunch will be leftovers. Lodge will be open Friday if you so desire to come up early. You will have to pay an extra night lodging. You will need to bring your own food for Friday night and Saturday AM or Pot Luck.
The upper Gate will be open at 8:30-9:00 AM Saturday AM. We will exit openings Saturday evening and Sunday around 1:00 PM. If you wish to hike up, let us know and we will arrange a hike leader.
Cost is $55 for guests and $45 for members.

June 13 (Tue) East Portland Buttes Bike Ride - Class D

Let's bike some hills! This ride traverses east side Portland to the tops of Mt. Tabor, Rocky Butte, and Mt. Scott. We will enjoy beautiful views and a great cardio workout. Most of the route is on low traffic streets or bike paths, but some sections have no shoulder and will have some traffic. Includes steep up and down hills varying in length from 1-3 miles each. 32 miles total, about 2,000 ft elevation gain on the hills.

June 16 (Fri) Inter-state Bridges Ride - Class B

We will ride a 28 mile loop from James Gleason Boat Ramp on Marine Drive over the I5 bridge through downtown Vancouver (possible stop at Vancouver Saturday market), up Fruit Valley Road to Burnt Bridge Creek Trail. We will ride BBC Trail to 92nd Ave. and then to I205 for our return to James Gleason Boat Ramp. Some of the ride will be on multi-use paths and some on roads. Bring snacks and water. Check meet up for updates including weather cancellation.

June 17-18 (Sat-Sun) Badger Creek Backpack - Class A

We’ll hike up the Badger Creek Trail on the east side of Mount Hood, going between three to five miles in with about 400 feet of elevation gain. Distance will depend on where we decide to spend the night. Trail follows Badger Creek and is generally a quiet, forested, creekside trail with fewer hikers than other, more popular trails. This backpack is open to those who are new or returning to backpacking.

Week-4

June 19 (Mon) Sauvie Island Bike Ride - Class A/B

This will be an easy ride along Gillihan Rd, then follow Reeder Rd along the river to the end and return for about 20/24 miles. There is an option for additional mileage by biking in and back on Sauvie Island Rd. Hopefully the strawberries will be ripe and we will have the opportunity to go picking after the ride - so bring containers if that is your plan. Snack or lunch can be at the end of Reeder Rd.
Meeting: 10 AM at the bus stop just across the bridge. Please register with leader the night before.

June 21 (Wed) 3 Hour Triple Crown Hike– Class B+

In celebration of one of the longest days of the year, we will hike from 6 PM until 9 PM-ish to Council Crest, then continue to Hoyt Arboretum and Pittock mansion. Please carry a flashlight or headlamp and dress for changeable weather. Parking is limited; arrive early to find a spot, sign and pay the hike fee.
Cost: $1 for Trails Club and Mazama members; $2 non-members.
Meet: at Wallace Park between NW 25th and 26th on Raleigh. We leave at 6 PM sharp!

June 23-25 (Fri-Sun) Nesika Work Trip

June 25 (Sun) Molalla River Bike Class - B

This level B ride starts at Feyrer Park in Molalla. The ride is 36.3 miles RT from the Park out along the Molalla River. The terrain is peaceful and along the river most of the way. It's mostly a slight uphill all the way out to the bridge where we turn around and then it's a nice downhill most of the way home. There are bathrooms at multiple places along the route. Also, it's very easy to turn around and retrace your ride if you have a partner to make a shorter ride with you. Come on out and give this a try.
Depart: 10 AM sharp from parking lot at Feyrer Park. To reach Feyrer Park in Molalla, take : I-5 south to Woodburn/Molalla exit #271, at Molalla east on Main, then right on Mathias, and left on Feyrer Park Rd. 16187 S Feyrer Park Rd. $5 parking fee. This is a rather long drive so carpooling is encouraged.
