Gentle Reminders provides explanation of hike difficulty and hike guideline. Detail description of common meeting is available at Meeting Places.

Week-1

Sep 1-4 (Wed) Nesika Open House – Class A/B

We will provide drinks and snacks for the weekend. Come and enjoy day hikes and the peacefulness of the lodge. Bring your own food. Cost will be day use or overnight use. Plan on sharing the cooking and possibly pot lucking meals.

Week-2

Sep 6 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

We begin our hike at 9:30 am and hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, somewhere in the Portland metropolitan area, often in Forest Park.
This hike will be in Oregon City through parks and neighborhoods.
Meet and park at Clackamette Park, Main St. and Clackamette Dr., just west of 99E.

Sep 6 (Wed) Evening Hike – Class B

We will hike from 6 PM until 8 PM-ish in Forest Park and the West Hills. Please carry a flashlight or headlamp and dress for changeable weather. Parking is limited; arrive early to find a spot, sign and pay the hike fee.
Cost: $1 for Trails Club and Mazama members; $2 non-members.
Meet: at Wallace Park between NW 25th and 26th on Raleigh. We leave at 6 PM sharp!
Class A: Approximately 4-5 miles with less than 500 foot elevation gain.
Leader: TBD
Class B: Approximately 6 miles with 500 - 800 foot elevation gain (not cumulative).

Sep 7 (Thu) Peninsula Park to Pier Park Bike - Class A

Please join me for an easy ride around North Portland. 15 miles round trip, flat, mostly on residential, low traffic streets. Bring a lunch for a picnic at Pier Park. Please make sure your tires are pumped. There should be beautiful roses at Peninsula Park!
Depart: 10 AM - Meet at the corner of N Ainsworth St. and N Borthwick Ave at the south end of Peninsula Park.

Sep 9 (Sat) Morning Hike – Class A

Ken Kane continues the interpretive tour of downtown fountains he began last month. Join him for an urban hike which explores the fountains on the southside of downtown Portland. Sep 13 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A

Sep 15-17 (Fri-Sun) Nesika Work Trip

We will be pouring the last two posts, roofing the front roof, setting two posts, continuing with placement of the men's path lights to outhouse. If we have enough people we will attempt to get some trails cleared of brush, this has not been accomplished this summer secondary due to low work trip attendance and the priority of finishing the women's deck. We could use a good turn out will open at 9:00 AM on Friday and Saturday morning and 6:30 PM on Friday evening. Sep 16-17 (Sat-Sun) Tyee Work Weekend

Bill Yandon will be standing in for Chaz to manage the activities. We have some painting planned so bring along some painting tools to augment what we have at Tyee. The stalls in the women’s restroom, trim in the men’s restroom and ping pong room will be painted. Tyvek and possibly siding will be installed on the front porch. Meals provided: Sat Lunch, Sat. Dinner, Sunday Breakfast, Sunday Lunch (leftovers)

Sep 16 (Sat) Canby Ferry Bike - Class C

Join me on a beautiful but challenging ride from Oregon City to Canby, across the Willamette, up and over Pete’s Mountain to West Linn, and back to Oregon City over the Arch Bridge. This ride features the Oregon City Municipal Elevator, exploration of the Molalla Forest Road multiuse path in Canby, and of course the Canby Ferry. Add in scenic farmland and countryside south of the river, and great views north of the river, including an up-close look at Willamette Falls. Total distance is approximately 28 miles, with cumulative elevation gain about 1,500 feet. $2 per bike on the ferry. Optional lunch at end of ride.

Sep 20 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

We begin our hike at 9:30 am and hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, somewhere in the Portland metropolitan area, often in Forest Park.
This week we will go across the Sellwood bridge, do a loop through the cemeteries, back across the bridge and another loop through Oaks Bottom.
Meet in the parking lot at Sellwood Riverfront Park, SE Spokane.

Sept 24 (Sun) - Milwaukie-Redland Bike Ride - Class C

We will ride from Milwaukie to Oregon City using the Trolley Trail and River Road. We then do a loop by first having a climb and descent along Redland Rd into Redland, then take Hattan Rd to the Clackamas River, with a rider provided snack/lunch stop at Carver Park. We return to Oregon City via Clackamas River Rd. We then return to Milwaukee via a different route featuring Aldercrest Rd. Route is 32 miles, 1417 ft ascent.
