Bev will sign the Business Annual Report form and a Department of Justice form for registering as a 501(c3).

Membership Report, Lori
Provisional: Debra Dia

Membership Reading unanimously approved:
Zlatko Tanovic sponsored by Jeff Churchill and Lori Leach.

Total membership: 265

Publications Report, Joel
The lodge fee payment form is now live with improved mobile interface, automatic fee
calculation, and 90-day payment log accessible to lodge chairs. The new system separates
lodge fees and meal fees in reports for bookkeeping purposes. A voluntary Stripe fee option
has been implemented for the shopping cart; lodge fee direct payments bypass
WooCommerce without additional fees.

Nesika Report, Pete
5/16 Rob Parker hosted a weekend at Nesika for hikers and volunteers
5/23 Pete Recksiek hosted the Memorial weekend for recreational hikers. 6 of 7 members
made it up Larch Mountain to Sherard Point (the cook needed a nap).
5/28 Pete Recksiek hosted a volunteer work weekend. The dorm breaker panel was connected to the grid, all switches and outlets upstairs were tested successfully. Lighting will be done on the next trip. Wood was split, hauled and stacked. The metal door to the generator shack was repaired. Grass was mowed and the pedestrian trail was trimmed.
6/4/26 Rob Parker and Ken Potter finished the dorm electrical installation, with lights in the
dorm and shop. Way to go guys!
Forestry Service update: No work has been done on installing water bars on the Basin Road this month because crews have been out attending to fires. ODF is planning to complete the project this summer, so please check in with Pete Recksiek if going in by car during the week.
The old tractor has been pushed outside the garage, and the team is working on placement in the parking lot and a removal strategy.

Tyee Report, Eric Zinger
We had a fantastic turnout for the work party, 26 folks in total over the course of the 4 days. 8 participated in the work in lieu project on Kiwanis Camp Road, collecting 6 bags of trash and 32 total hours towards our rent! We dropped 2 large trees which turned into 3 cords of split and stacked fire wood. 6 tent pads were cleared. The water seeps into the lodge have been located and a plan is being established for remediation. Two new drain catchments with strainer baskets were installed to prevent pine needle clogs. The squirrels have been evicted from the vestibule under the kitchen deck. The game cabinet had been purged of redundant and broken games and puzzles which have been donated. Tyee lodge is appreciative of all the love!
This year’s heating oil consumption was reduced to a half tank versus three-quarters last year.
It was moved and seconded to remove the old ski patrol sled: 7 in favor, 1 abstention, 1
opposed.

Trips Report, Craig
Craig suggests we no longer collect a $2 hike fee. He will look at changing the trip log form.

The Wednesday evening hikes continued through May. There was an online TCO "Trails Talk!" presentation via ZOOM. Please see the online trailsclub.org calendar and the Trails Club of Oregon Meetup site for trips information.

Craig will create QR codes for Nesika and Tyee lodges linking directly to payment form with
pre-selected lodge options.

The TCO Stormy Trails committee examined the following Basin trails on May 31:
Cougar Rock Trail - clear, no obstacles, brushy (ferns) in short sections
Elevator Shaft Trail - clear, no obstacles, not brushy
High Water Trail - clear, no obstacles, brush cleared May 31
Ornament Trail - clear, no obstacles, brush cleared May 31
Basin Cutoff Trail - clear, no obstacles, brush cleared May 31
Nesika to Franklin Connector Trail - clear, no obstacles, brush cleared May 31
Please email tripschair@trailsclub.org if you are interested in assisting with trail work, including trail scouting, restoration and maintenance.
Call for help: If you are interested in learning about adventures on the Multnomah Plateau and willing to help co-lead hikes and/or join a TCO trips planning committee, please join our "TCO Talks Talk!" this month, or send questions to tripschair@trailsclub.org.

Outdoor Ed and Outreach, Sebastian Powers-Leach

The OEO committee is planning an open house hosted at Tyee on Saturday, July 11, to
encourage new membership. We are meeting as a committee next week (June 15) to finalize plans and details. As this is the first open house this group has hosted, it’ll be a good trial run for future open house-style events to promote the club. This event coincides with an
introductory backpack that weekend up and around Tyee, which will be another great
opportunity to get folks to try sleeping outside—with the security of the lodge just down the
hill. Thank you especially to Tom Thrall and Julia Carroll for all your work on these two events!

Social Report, Jeff via email
We had a very successful Spring Social Picnic at Sellwood Park this past Saturday with an
attendance of 31 people despite the rainy weather. See the photos on our Facebook page:

Fidelity account. It passed unanimously.
Eric E moved and Eric Z seconded to add Lori and Joel as backup agents on the Fidelity
account. It passed unanimously.

Rebecca moved and Eric Z seconded to authorize Chris to send a letter to Threadneedle telling them to transfer the fund to Fidelity. It passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS
1) Eric will lead the July meeting. We will not hold an August meeting.

2) At the end of the year, we will need to send receipts and/or letters of acknowledgment to
everyone who made a donation to TCO. Eric E will work with Sydney on it.

3) Rebecca will contact the long time member who had offered to do a challenge grant when
we get 501(c)(3) status.

Moved, seconded and unanimously approved to adjourn meeting at 8:36.

Reminders

For activities such as bicycle, snowshoe, and XC skiing check with the leaders for the difficulty level. Good equipment for the specific activity is required for all events. For hikes, snowshoes:

  • Class A - Shorter, less strenuous activity, typically 4 to 8 miles, less than 1500 feet elevation gain.
  • Class B - Moderate to difficult, typically 6 to 12 miles, up to 3000 feet of elevation gain.
  • Class C - Long and difficult, strong experienced participants only, typically over 8 miles, and over 3000 feet of elevation gain. Boots are recommended for B/C hikes.

Harsh conditions may increase the exertion and skill required; be prepared. Contact the trip leader if you have any questions and to let him or her know that you will be attending. Bring the 10 Essentials and please, no alcohol. Pets allowed on designated trips only.

Stay with the group and follow the leader. The leader is responsible for the group's safety. The leader determines which route is taken. The leader has authority to determine if a participant is prepared for the activity. Group safety must come first.

Fees

There is no charge for day activities. Please contribute to any carpooling expenses at the rate of $.20 per mile. With multiple riders the driver can collect up to $.50 per mile shared by all the riders. Other fees may apply.

If you have RSVP'd for an activity at a lodge involving food expense and are unable to participate, you are obligated to do one of the following: Cancel before the food is purchased, find someone to take your place, or pay for your share of the food.

All activities must be approved by the appropriate activity coordinator or the Trips Trustee.
