Nesika is closed for road access until further notice due to damage caused by the Eagle Creek fire in September 2017. At this time (2022) the area is officially closed to vehicle access except by advanced notification by the Nesika Lodge Chair to the US Forest Service.
With the many trees falling on the road, it is advised to enter by road only if you bring a chain saw.

There are no restrictions for access by foot.

There are a lot of pictures of Nesika, pre and post fire, on the site NesikaLodge.com

We have received paperwork to provide us road access for our work trips.
The Nesika Lodge Chair is in charge of access.
The gate will be opened work trip weekends only at specific times. We will typically meet people at the gate on Larch MT road at 9:00 AM on Friday and Saturday mornings to take people in. We only bring people out at 6:00 PM on Saturday and 1:00 PM on Sunday.
The schedule may be different on any given trip due to changes in conditions so you MUST register to participate in a work trip.
Be prepared to sleep in your tent as our dorms burned in 2017 fire.  We rebuilt one of the dorms in 2021.
The “Green Fern” dorm, named in honor of long time member Fern Anderson, is now available to use.  We are accepting donations for cots in the Payments tab.
Contact the Nesika Lodge Chair for more information.

Nesika Lodge is our “Home in the gorge”. It is located on the rim of the Columbia River gorge surrounded by the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The main lodge, a stone and log structure mainly built by club members, provides day facilities including a full kitchen centered around a wood burning range, dining space, game areas, and plenty of space to sit around the fireplace. A local water system and generator provide water and power for the lodge.

Nesika Lodge is normally reached by trail. The more scenic approach starts from the Columbia River highway at Multnomah Falls just 30 miles from Portland. The route follows along Multnomah Creek with its many waterfalls and cascades, then cuts through Multnomah Basin and a tall timbered area, a total distance of about four miles. The other main approach is by road via Palmer Mill road near Larch Mountain, then by trail. The road is gated so you must have a key to drive in.

Nesika Lodge is an ideal spot for large or small parties with the opportunity to take numerous hikes in the surrounding area, or just take an easy stroll out to the viewpoint to enjoy the spectacular view of the Columbia River Gorge.
