Bowron Lakes 72 mile canoe circuit

you must Register Oct. 1st 2023. Bowron Lake Provincial Park is a large wilderness area situated on the western slopes of Cariboo Mountain Range. It is a 72 mile circle of lakes with 7 portages .5 to 2.5 miles in length. It is a day and a half drive; 285 miles. To Register go to British Columbia Parks, Bowron Lake Provincial Park. You must register by December 1st, 7:00 AM Prompt to start on circuit. Allow 2 days driving to get to park. Cost is to be paid at time of registration individually. There is an $18.00 per vessel charge and a $60.00 per person charge for the full Circuit. There is a limit of 3 people per vessel. A mandatory 30 minute class is mandatory at your scheduled time of departure, before taking off in canoe. Canoe can not be loaded with greater than 60 pounds of supplies for the circuit. This does not include emergency equipment. Canoe carts must be up to specs; no greater than 75 cm wide, large tires are recommended. No commercially packaged beverages or glass containers are allowed on circuit. No drink cans, bottles, liquor bottles or tetra packs. Canned food is ok. They must be packed out. Visitors must use bear proof caches. These are for food, garbage, cooking equipment and toiletries. Campfires are permitted in metal fire rings. No fires on beaches. Firewood is provided along the route. Visitors must carry stoves to cook on. Cooking on fire pits attracts bears. No music boxes, external speakers, are permitted. No firearms or crossbows. Pepper spray only if labeled for bear use. No pets are allowed on the circuit. Fishing is permitted on the circuit. Fishing license is needed. No aircrafts are allowed on Bowron Lakes.
