Cape Falcon Hike

Come hike the “back way” into scenic Cape Falcon on the Oregon coast, avoiding all the crowds at the Oswald West parking lot. We will start at an obscure trailhead on Falcon Cove Road and hike approximately 4 miles through coastal rainforest with giant Sitka spruce trees to the Cape. Scenic views of Neahkahnie mountain and the Pacific Ocean will open up as we walk out onto the Cape itself. This will be a class B hike with approximately 8 miles round-trip distance and 800 feet cumulative elevation gain.

Bring your lunch and 10 essentials, as well as boots with good traction as there are a few areas of mud and slippery roots along the trail.

We will meet in the Banks-Vernonia State Trail parking lot on Phil Road in Manning, OR promptly at 8:30 am, and carpool from there. Take Hwy 26 west past Hillsboro and North Plains to Manning. Watch for Phil Road on the right, 0.5 mile past the Snack Jacks convenience store. The TH parking lot is 200 feet down Phil Road on the right. Look for my white 2008 Tacoma pickup. A state parking pass will be required on any vehicles left at the parking lot.

This is a Trails Club hike which is free to members. There is a $2 fee for nonmembers which will be collected at the trailhead. Those carpooling should also plan to contribute $5 per person or $10 collectively to the driver of the car, whichever is less.
