Hike To Soda Peak Lake

See this Meetup page for RSVP list: https://www.meetup.com/trails-club-of-oregon/events/301744184/

How about a moderate / challenging hike (depending on whom you ask) to a beautiful mountain lake with breathtaking views of Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainier and Mt Adams on the way? The distance is a bit less than 5 miles (round trip), but requires a cumulative elevation gain of around 1,300 feet.

From the parking area, the trail gains 700′ to the top of the ridge where the Cascade volcanoes stand tall over the trees and the lake is visible below. After snapping some photos, we will descend 600′ to the shore of the lake, find a scenic spot to eat lunch, then decide whether to step into the cool, clear water for a refreshing swim.

We will meet at the A & J Market in Stevenson, Washington, at 8:45 am. The drive to the trailhead takes about 40 minutes from Stevenson, all on a paved road. We expect to be hiking no later than 10:00 am.

Bring your lunch and 2 liters of water or Gatorade, wear comfortable trail shoes or hiking boots, and bring a light jacket (just in case) along with a hat, sunscreen and bug repellant. Sturdy kids and friendly dogs are welcome. Oh, and if you might want to swim, bring a swimming suit and a small towel. For more details, check out this link: https://www.nwhiker.com/GPNFHike58.html.
