Indian Heaven – Bird Mtn, Lakes, Berries! Class C (16 miles, 2000 ft ascent)

Greetings –

This full day hike is really a cover for eating a lot of wild berries at Indian Heaven – blueberries, huckleberries, etc!

This adventure is available to TCO members and TCO non-members. Non-members pay a $2 per person fee to the hike leader for support of the Trails Club of Oregon.

Distance: 16 miles approximate
Elevation Gain: 2000 ft ascent
Offtrail: Yes (Bird Mtn, maybe more)

TH Pass: US Forest Pass or comparable.

We plan to start hiking from Placid Lake Trailhead at 8am sharp.
Heading south, we will pass Chenamus Lake and take a decommissioned trail south to Junction Lake. The hike will head north from there – Lemei Lake, Cultus Lake.
There will be an offtrail to Bird Mtn summit. This is a non-technical scramble on a wide ridge with dropoffs. We shall hopefully hit Sawtooth Mtn as well and return to the TH offtrail from Wood Lake – there is/was a user path. You will have to trust me.

This is a full day hike that includes rough trail walking, and scrambling.

Well behaved dogs allowed.

Bring a lunch/food, water, hat, glasses, good hiking shoes. Perhaps bug spray and/or sunscreen. Extra socks.
Please note I am a non-paid volunteer. Each person is expected to be prepared for a day hike in the wilderness, and each person is responsible for their own safety.
