McCall Point Hike
The wildflowers are in bloom, Saturday weather looks amazing, and this is one of my favorite hikes! There are expansive, scenic views of the Gorge and the Columbia River with Mt. Hood in the distance. I’m going to keep the group small so I’d like to limit it to 8 hikers. This is a Class A hike with 1300 feet of elevation and a distance of 4.8 miles. I’m an early riser and the TH parking lot fills quickly on a Saturday so let’s meet up at 7:30 a.m. at the parking lot at the Rowena Crest Viewpoint. Hiking speed will be leisurely, about 1 mph uphill and 2 mph downhill with a few breaks on the ascent up to the viewpoint. If there is interest, we can stop for lunch somewhere on the drive back home. No parking fee or day pass are required at the TH.
Plan to bring the 10 essentials, sunscreen, a hat, a few snacks, and plenty of water for the hike. It’s forecasted to be warm, with a highs in the mid 80’s! Keep in mind that you are responsible for your own health and safety, both during and on the way to and from this event. Be informed and plan to be self-sufficient.
