Nesika work trip, Gear Swap/Sale and Halloween Celebration
We will have the gate at the 10 mile snow gate on Larch Mountain Road open at 9:00 AM Friday and Saturday morning.
We will ensure people can leave on Friday and Saturday evening if desired. If you need a ride please let us know.
Only all wheel or 4 wheel drive cars and trucks are able to travel the last 3.5 miles into Nesika. We like to park low clearance cars at the brown gate as there is less vandalism there.
We will be finishing up the projects we have been working on all summer and preparing the lodge and dorm for winter shut down.
Work that will need to be done:
- Move wood from old women’s dorm area to wood shed
- Finish painting of steps to dorm, siding
- Finish install of wood stove
- Ensure supplies and winterization is ready
- Trail and road work if the desire is there
- Prune around baby trees.
There is room for people to sleep in the dorm, in the main lodge and tent. Lodging and food is free for work weekends.
If you are interested in joining a lively crew of hard working dedicated people who enjoy our lodge in preparing the new dorm for winter register on Trails Club of Oregon Meetup or call Linda Conrad 360-907-5096 or email at .
Come and join us for a weekend at Nesika Lodge. We will be finishing up projects we have been working on this year and preparing the lodge for shutdown of water systems in November. Projects to be finished include: painting new steps to dorm, finish painting exterior of dorm, finish installing of new wood stove in dorm, ensuring supplies are at lodge for winter, moving wood for winter to lower woodsheds, clearing around baby trees. We will be clearing road and trails as people desire.
Saturday night we will have a Halloween party for the hard workers with games, a movie and entertainment. Wear a costume if the mood hits you. This is a celebration for all the hard work that was accomplished this year at the lodge to get the dorm up to winter standards.
Gear Swap: Bring good used gear to sale, trade or donate to others. I will also drum up some raffle prizes.
If you would like we can talk about how to lighten your backpack for trips. I can do a pack breakdown to give suggestions on how to reduce your weight. A wise person once said “Everything in your pack should have two uses.”
Meet at 10-mile snow gate on Larch Mountain Road at 9:00am on Saturday or Sunday morning. Gate will also be open for those who need to leave after dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings. Only all wheel drive or 4-wheel drive vehicles are able to negotiate the road past three miles so we can arrange rides as needed to the Lodge. We recommend that those with low clearance park at the brown gate where there is less vandalism. Register on Meetup stating which nights you will be there. You can also register by calling Linda Conrad at 360-907-5096 or email at .
