Saddle Mountain day hike

Meetup Location: Saddle Mountain Recreation Area parking lot (near restrooms)
Meetup Date: May 4th, Monday
Meetup Time: 10:00 AM
Departure: 10:15 AM sharp (we won’t be able to wait for late arrivals)

Permits/Fees: No parking fee required

***

The Hike:
We’ll climb steadily through forest to the summit, gaining 1,634 feet over 2.4 miles. The trail is steep in sections, with rocky footing and some wire mesh for traction. It’s a great hike for those comfortable with elevation gain and uneven terrain.
We’ll hike at a relaxed, social pace and stay together as a group—this is about enjoying the journey as much as the destination.

***

At the Top:
We’ll take a break at the summit to enjoy lunch and (hopefully) expansive coastal views. Bring something you’ll enjoy eating with a view.

***

What to Bring:
Mountain weather can shift quickly—come prepared for sun, wind, or cold.

  • Lunch
  • Plenty of water
  • Hiking boots with good traction
  • Layers
  • Hat & sunscreen
  • Hiking poles (recommended)
  • Bag for trash

***

Good to Know:

  • Trail conditions may be slick if wet
  • Estimated return time is approximate
  • Use Meetup chat to coordinate carpools if interested
  • We will practice and discuss Leave No Trace, picking up any trash we may find along the trail. Please bring a small trash bag.

Important:
Trails Club of Oregon leaders are volunteers, not professional guides. You are responsible for your own safety, preparedness, and transportation.
