Tomlike Mountain
The hike to Tomlike Mountain in the Mark O. Hatfield Wilderness Area of Mt. Hood
National Forest is a moderate hike with exceptional views. From the top of Tomlike
Mountain, you will enjoy a 360 degree view of Mud Lake, Mt Hood, Tanner Butte, Mt.
St. Helens, Mt. Rainier, and Mt. Adams.
• The hike is 6.5 miles, round trip, with a total elevation gain of about 1,200 feet. We
will hike at around 2 mph and stop frequently for photo breaks and to catch your
breath.
• From the Portland area, the drive to the trailhead will take around 90 minutes. If you
would like to carpool, we will meet at the Troutdale Outlet Mall (near Starbucks) at
8:15 am (exit 17 on I-84). If you prefer to meet at the trailhead, we will meet you there
at 9:45 am. We expect to be back in Portland around 3:30 – 4:00 pm.
• You need a NW Forest Pass to park at the trailhead.
• Plan to bring sturdy hiking boots, layered clothing including rain gear (watch the
weather report), two liters of water, lunch, and a hiking pole or two. And remember
your camera!
• Friendly dogs are welcome.
• The group size is not limited for this hike.
